Toni Elias won five of the first six races to start the 2018 season and it looked like he was en route to taking his second MotoAmerica Superbike title. Then his rival Cameron Beaubier got hot, winning the next four races while Elias started to struggle. In the end it came down to consistency and even though he won nine races, one more than Beaubier, the title went back to the Yamaha rider.
With his 25 EBC Brakes Superbike wins in his three years of MotoAmerica racing, Elias is already sixth on the all-time win list and just three wins behind fifth-ranked Ben Spies, the former AMA and World Superbike Champion.
