Two-time MotoAmerica Liqui Moly Junior Cup Champion and 2020 MotoAmerica Twins Cup Champion Rocco Landers made his 600cc Supersport debut this past weekend at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center, California, and it was a good one. Landers made his debut on Melissa Paris’ Yamaha YZF-R6, a motorcycle formerly raced by her husband, four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes.
The 15-year-old won four of the five races he entered with victories in Saturday’s 600 Supersport and Formula Middleweight classes; and two more victories in Sunday’s 600 Supersport and Formula Middleweight. Landers also raced to third in The Shootout, which was won by Suzuki GSX-R1000 mounted David Anthony over Michael Gilbert Racing’s Michael Gilbert, who was also on a 600 Supersport bike.
Landers’ best lap time was a 1:46.746, which he set in Sunday’s 600 Supersport race.
According to his father, Stoney Landers, Landers’ only previous outing on a 600 was a five-10 lap practice session at New Jersey Motorsports Park earlier this year.
