Joe Roberts will again join Lorenzo Dalla Porta on the Italtrans Moto2 team for the 2022 season.

Joe Roberts, the 2015 MotoAmerica Superstock 600 Champion, has renewed his contract with the Italtrans Racing Team for the 2022 Moto2 World Championship, according to a release issued by the team today.

Roberts, who is currently 12th in the 2021 Moto2 World Championship, is near the end of his first season with the Italtrans Racing Team and his fourth full-time season in the series.

Roberts will again be teamed with Lorenzo Dalla Porta, who is currently in his second season with the team. Dalla Porta, the 2019 Moto3 World Champion, however, has been suffering with a shoulder injury and has opted to end his 2021 season and will undergo surgery on October 6 in Milan, Italy.

Tetsuta Nagashima will replace Dalla Porta for the rest of the season.

“We are happy to announce the renewed agreement with both our riders,” said Italtrans’ Laura Bertulessi. “The team has worked hard over the last few months, and we are sure that we have created solid bases for next season. Joe (Roberts) will have the opportunity to continue the work he started this year; Lorenzo (Dalla Porta) has made significant progress but due to the condition of his shoulder we have decided to stop in view of the 2022 season. Tetsuta Nagashima will take his place in these last races. I’m sure he will join our family with great motivation.”

“I’m happy to have renewed with the team for the 2022 season,” Roberts said. “We are working hard for my growth in Moto2 and I’m sure next year I will confirm my qualities.”
