The two men who duked it out for the 2020 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, Richie Escalante and Sean Dylan Kelly, will get to see just how good they are in the series finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca when JD Beach, the winningest rider in MotoAmerica Supersport history, returns to action.
Beach will ride the Celtic HSBK Yamaha YZF-R6 ridden all season long by Brandon Paasch at Laguna.
“I’m excited to get back to the MotoAmerica grid for a round,” Beach said in a team release. “I’ve been following the series and this class closely and am looking forward to a chance to put the Yamaha R6 to work against this year’s fastest bike and rider. I know this is a top Yamaha after watching PJ (Jacobsen) ride it last year and jumped at an opportunity that didn’t interfere with my flat track season. A big thanks to Estenson Racing for allowing me take this opportunity and the Celtic HSBK team for welcoming me.”
PJ Jacobsen rode the Celtic HSBK Yamaha to a close second in the 2019 Supersport Championship and Paasch is currently third in the 2020 Supersport title chase, 59 points clear of Aguilar Racing’s Jason Aguilar and 61 points adrift of Sean Dylan Kelly. HONOS Kawasaki’s Richie Escalante wrapped up the title on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Beach has been competing full-time in the 2020 American Flat Track series for the Estenson Racing Team on a Yamaha twin. Beach has won 32 MotoAmerica Supersport races and two Supersport titles, winning 11 races a season in his two championship years.
The team did not specify why Paasch is not racing at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
