The late Kevin Elliott Sr. will be honored prior to the start of the 81st running of the Daytona 200 on March 11.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>MotoAmerica, North America\u2019s premier motorcycle road racing series, has announced that it will hold a moment of remembrance for the late Kevin Elliott Sr. prior to the warm-up lap of the 81st running of the Daytona 200. Elliott was the president and owner of Championship Cup Series (CCS) and American Sportbike Racing Association (ASRA). He passed away on January 29 at the age of 64.<\/p>
A commemorative green flag emblazoned with Elliott\u2019s name will be used to start the warm-up lap and the flag will be presented to his family following the remembrance.<\/p>
\u201cI believe it\u2019s important to acknowledge Kevin and the work he did in keeping the Daytona 200 going under difficult conditions, it\u2019s only fitting to have Kevin help start the race a final time,\u201d said MotoAmerica COO Chuck Aksland. \u201cWe\u2019re all headed to Daytona for the 81st<\/sup> running of the 200 and Kevin and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout Bike Week.\u201d<\/p> \u201cIn a time of transition for North American motorcycle road racing, Kevin Elliott and his team at ASRA\/CCS stepped in to keep the tradition of the Daytona 200 going,\u201d said Daytona International Speedway President Frank Kelleher. \u201cHis contributions to motorcycle racing overall, and Daytona International Speedway in particular, cannot be overstated.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
