Talk about a #FlashbackFriday. It’s been 30 years almost to the day since Fast By Ferracci Ducati won the AMA Superbike Championship with then-relatively-unknown-and-now-legendary-racer Troy Corser capturing the title in his rookie season. On Friday morning at Circuit of The Americas, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati and Ducati North America honored Fast By Ferracci team owner Eraldo Ferracci by unveiling a special “FBF” livery reminiscent of Corser’s Championship-winning bike on current 2024 Steel Commander Superbike Championship leader Josh Herrin’s Ducati Panigale V4 R.
Ferracci is currently still active with Ducati in the MotoAmerica/AMA paddock. He is an integral member of the Ducati-supported HSBK team, and looks pretty much the same as he did three decades ago, with his signature full head of white hair.
The special livery reveal was a complete surprise to Ferracci on Friday morning, and he was noticeably beaming about the special honor. A couple of other Ducati team members who especially enjoyed the honor bestowed on Ferracci were Maurizio Perlini, who was actually working for Ducati Corse back in 1994, and Marelli consultant Vittorio Bolognesi, who went for work for Ducati and Troy Corser in 1995 when Corser moved up from FBF Ducati”s AMA Superbike team to the Promotor Racing Power Horse Ducati World Superbike team managed by Davide Tardozzi.
It’s amazing how fast 30 years goes by.
