On the surface—and in this case, the surface is a racetrack—motorcycle road racing appears to be an individual sport. With the exception of sidecars, motorcycle road racing is one rider per bike competing against each other.

But, for those of us who are close to the sport, we know that motorcycle road racing is very much a team sport. That fact is more obvious in endurance racing like the Suzuka 8 Hours, the Le Mans 24 Hours, or even the Daytona 200, but even in sprint racing, it very definitely takes a team to race. From the crew chief, to the mechanics, and even to the tire technicians, rider coach, and trainer, the rider relies on his team to help him race and, hopefully, win.

Former AMA/MotoAmerica class champion and Superbike race winner Garrett Gerloff spent the past two years racing for the Bonovo Action BMW Racing Team, and the Texan has deftly utilized multimedia and social media to chronicle his exploits in the FIM Superbike World Championship. At the same time, he has helped us get to know his team and witness the obvious positive energy that permeates Gerloff and each member of his squad.

And, as Gerloff closed another chapter on his pursuit of the WorldSBK Championship, he and his videographer/editor Brad Schwartzrock put together a creative and comprehensive video that wrapped everything up and also enable Gerloff to show his appreciation for all the hard-working men and women who contributed to his success.

It’s a fitting crescendo and one you definitely have to see. Click on the play button below, and enjoy:
