Two-Wheel Tuesday Spotlight: #11 Westby Racing YZF-R1 Superbike

Westby Racing started campaigning the Yamaha YZF-R1 in 2015, which was the beginning of the MotoAmerica era. The team competed in the Superstock 1000 class for three years, which culminated in rider Mathew Scholtz winning the 2017 MotoAmerica Superstock Championship with 10 race victories and also one Superbike race win aboard the Superstock 1000-spec machine. In 2018, the team moved up to the Superbike class and upgraded the R1 accordingly with higher-spec suspension, triple clamps, and various other Superbike-legal components. This year, the bike features a complete Magneti Marelli MLE electronics system for the first time, and Herschel Auxier joined the team as Electronics Specialist with the primary duty to exploit the full capabilities of the MLE system in order to extract maximum performance from the motorcycle.
