The Yamaha YZF-R1 has been a highly successful Superbike platform, especially during the MotoAmerica era. The bike has captured all but one Medallia Superbike Championship since 2015, MotoAmerica’s inaugural season. In 2020, Attack Performance took the reins from Yamaha’s official factory team, and the success has continued.

Among the innovations that Attack’s owner Richard Stanboli has added to the bike are a highly coveted, proprietary swingarm designed, engineered, and fabricated by Stanboli himself, as well as a unique airbox cover/fuel tank/seat unit/tailsection/subframe that functions as a single unit. The entire assembly attaches to, and detaches from, the rest of the motorcycle in order to facilitate quick access to the engine, electronics, and rear suspension. While variations of this design are also used on some of the prototype motorcycles in the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 World Championships, it’s exclusive to Jake Gagne’s and Cam Petersen’s bikes in the MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship.
