Kayla Yaakov, who fractured her right fibula and also injured her right knee during a team test at Roebling Road Raceway in Bloomington, Georgia, just prior to round one of the 2023 REV’IT! Twins Cup Championship at Daytona International Speedway in March and missed what would have been her debut in the class, will also miss this weekend’s second round at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
In a statement on her Facebook Page, Yaakov said, “Unfortunately I won’t be racing at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The fibula hasn’t healed as well as my doctor would like. Instead, I’ll be focusing on my recovery and getting ready for (round three of the 2023 REV’IT! Twins Cup Championship at) Barber Motorsports Park.”
Stefano Mesa will once again substitute for Yaakov on The WagBar MP13 Racing Yamaha YZF-R7 at Road Atlanta just as he did last month at Daytona. Mesa was unable to finish REV’IT! Twins Cup race one at Daytona due to a mechanical issue, but he bounced back in race two at Daytona and notched the victory.
It will be a busy weekend for the Colombian, since he is also racing a Tytlers Cycle Racing Kawasaki ZX-6R in round one of the 2023 Supersport Championship, which gets underway this weekend at Road Atlanta. In addition, Mesa races an Energica Eva Ribelle RS electric motorcycle for Tytlers Cycle Racing in the 2023 Mission Super Hooligan National Championship (MSHNC), but that race class is not on the schedule at Road Atlanta. The MSHNC will resume at Ridge Motorsports Park on June 23 through 25.
