Squid Hunter Racing, who has dipped their toes in MotoAmerica Supersport racing over the past couple of years, has announced that they are all-in for the full 2023 Supersport Championship with four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes as their rider aboard the team’s Yamaha YZF-R6. The announcement was made by Peter Strack, CEO and owner of Squid Hunter Racing.
“We’re all in,” declared Strack in a press release that came out today. “As the new season starts to rev up, the anticipation and excitement of what Josh Hayes can do is highly anticipated. With Squid Hunter’s commitment to professionalism, dedication, and passion for racing, nothing can stop both Josh and the team from putting on a memorable performance this season. There is no doubt that, in tandem, both Squid Hunter and Hayes will continue to gain momentum, and the fans will be treated to an incredible display of world-class racing.”
Hayes finished as runner-up aboard the Squid Hunter Racing Yamaha in the 81st running of the Daytona 200 this past March, and he also notched two podium finishes in the Supersport class at last month’s MotoAmerica event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Hayes is currently tied with AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame member Miguel Duhamel for the most all-time AMA race wins in any class with 86 victories apiece.
