Cameron Beaubier is headed across the Atlantic Ocean next Tuesday to contest round six of the IDM German Superbike Championship, July 31-August 2, with Team Yamaha MGM.

The MotoAmerica Superbike co-points leader will join FIM European Superstock 1000 Cup racer Kevin Coghlan and British Superbike Championship regular Josh Brookes as substitutes for injured Yamaha MGM teammates Max Neukirchner and Damian Cudlin.

“I’m excited,” Beaubier said. “It should be a pretty cool experience. I think it will be fun to learn a new track and ride with some other competitors. World Superbike is on Pirellis, so it will be good for me to see how they are. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a good feel for everything as soon as I get on the bike.”

Coghlan currently competes on a MRS Yamaha YZF-R1M and is fifth overall in Superstock 1000 with two races remaining. Brookes scored a double win on his Milwaukee Yamaha last weekend in BSB and is second in that championship, just five points behind PBM Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne.

Coghlan and Beaubier will compete at the 2.36-mile Schleiz Triangle, and Brookes will team with Coghlan in the seventh round of the series at Assen in The Netherlands on August 9.

“While it’s disappointing to have both Yamaha MGM riders out of action with injuries,” Yamaha Motor Europe’s Road Racing Project Manager Andrea Dosoli said, “we are fortunate to have three exceptionally talented riders available to step in and fill the gaps.

“Kev, Josh, and Cameron have shown great form so far this season in their classes on the new YZF-R1, so I have total confidence that they will hit the ground running.”

Neukirchner and Cudlin are expected to return for the final race of the season on September 27 at the Hockenheimring.

Beaubier last raced overseas in 2009.
