Recently named Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC rider Danilo Petrucci is testing aboard a MotoAmerica-spec Ducati Panigale V4 R Superbike today and tomorrow at Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, Portugal.

The test is being conducted concurrently with the World Superbike Team Test also being held at Portimão. Courtesy of our friends at GPone.com, here is a video of Petrucci’s first outing on the Ducati. Of note, Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati NYC’s Eraldo Ferracci (owner of the Pennsylvania-based company Fast by Ferracci) and team technician Danny Anderson can be seen in the video, as well as Tony Romo from Dunlop Motorcycle Tires.

What makes this test highly unusual, other than the fact that it’s being conducted at Portimão, which is obviously not a circuit on MotoAmerica’s schedule, is that it’s taking place at the same time as the World Superbike Team Test, and WorldSBK uses Pirelli spec tires and ELF spec racing fuel. Petrucci is testing at Portimão aboard MotoAmerica-spec Dunlop tires and with MotoAmerica-spec VP racing fuel in the tank of his Ducati Superbike.

Clearly, this is an indication of the importance that Ducati Corse places on the MotoAmerica Championship. More news to come.
