Five Of The MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup Racers Are Headed To Spain For The World Finals
Jerez Bound: Five of our MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup racers are headed to Spain next week to compete in the KTM RC Cup World Finals at Jerez. We sent them five questions as they were packing their bags. Here’s the second of those with Jackson Blackmon, the South Carolina resident who finished fourth in the 2017 MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup Series.
Is this your first trip to Europe?
Yes, this is my first trip out of the U.S. I can’t wait. It’s going be an awesome trip not only to race but to see how different everything is outside of the good ol’ South Carolina.
What are your goals for the race?
I just plan to go out there and race and try to ride like it’s any other weekend. Just go out there and ride like myself and give it 100%.
You have any sightseeing plans, or just going to race?
I plan to do some sightseeing before the races. On such a big trip like this, you have to go see some cool stuff. It’s gonna be awesome. We are flying out in a few days to adjust to the time difference and to see some cool stuff you don’t get to see every day.
Have you played video games to learn Jerez?
I’ve played my Xbox. It may seem a little weird, but it actually works. It at least gives me an idea of where I’m going when I get there while also improving my video game skills (ha, ha).
How many family members/friends are going with you?
For this trip, it’s just me and my dad going. We will also have some members of the team there to help us out, which is really cool because it’s not just any team that would go all that way to lend a hand.
