Solly Mervis is finishing his freshman year at the prestigious Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where he is pursuing dual degrees in mechanical engineering and data science (he also recently made the Dean’s List), but he and his Ice Barn Racing team will begin their “sophomore” season in the MotoAmerica Championship this weekend.

Mervis will be on track at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, starting on Friday. He will join 14 other road racers in MotoAmerica’s Parts Unlimited Talent Cup By Motul, which kicks off at COTA on the world stage alongside the Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas.
Mervis, who posted five top-10 finishes as a rookie in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup Championship last year, moves up to the Talent Cup series for 2025, which is a stepping stone on the “Road to MotoGP™.”
The 20-year-old from Carmel, Indiana, began competitive amateur motorcycle road racing only a few years ago, and he notched several podium appearances before moving up to MotoAmerica and rocketing to the top-tier of the motorcycle racing scene in very short fashion.
Mervis will be aboard the #25 Ice Barn Racing Krämer APX-350 MA on Friday for Practice at 1 p.m. ET, followed by Qualifying 1 at 5:25 p.m. ET and Qualifying 2 at 7 p.m. ET. He will then compete in two, eight-lap races on Saturday, with Race 1 at Noon ET and Race 2 at 5:10 p.m. ET.
Ice Barn Racing was founded in 2023 to support Solly Mervis’s racing journey. It is dedicated to bolstering and propelling Solly towards becoming an exceptional role model for young individuals.
