Hannah Lopa is well-known as the female face of MotoAmerica. A former Miss New York, Lopa has been a fixture in the MotoAmerica paddock for seven seasons as a pit reporter and more. In addition to her TV work, Lopa is also married to Harley-Davidson factory rider Kyle Wyman.
What was your introduction to the motorcycle world?
When I met my husband, Kyle Wyman, in 2014, he introduced me to motorcycle road racing and brought me to Mid-Ohio for my first race. I am looking forward to going back there with MotoAmerica in 2024.
What led to you being a motorcycle racing broadcaster?
I had spent a couple years in the MotoAmerica paddock working for various manufacturers doing promotions, lead generation and as an umbrella girl. With my background in public speaking from pageants and my degree in communications, Chuck Aksland approached me with the idea of hosting a YouTube series for the KTM RC 390 Cup. After several interviews and screen tests, I was hired as MotoAmerica’s full-time pit-lane reporter instead. The 2023 season was my seventh!
What part of the job do you enjoy the most?
It is hard to name the best part of my job. Sharing stories and making TV is incredibly fulfilling for me. But more than that, it’s the people. Our TV crew and my MotoAmerica colleagues, fans, the riders and their teams and families. It’s the community that am lucky to be a part of as an on-air personality but also as a race-wife and a fan of the sport.
What part of the job is the most difficult?
The most difficult part of my job is interviewing riders when they haven’t had their best day at the track. Finding the balance between consideration of their space and emotions and the responsibilities I have as a reporter requires mutual respect and understanding. I’ve been really fortunate to build that trust over the past seven seasons.
What do you like to do when you’re not at the racetrack?
When I’m not at the track, I love visiting my close friends and family, hosting Miss New York and Miss Maryland, and watching as many other racing series as I can.
