M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Bobby Fong says he will be back in action at the Ridge Motorsports Park for round five of the 2020 MotoAmerica Series, despite a big crash in race one at PittRace on Saturday that left him with a battered and bruised left hand and wrist.
“A lot of people were saying it was my thumb, but it was my hand and wrist,” Fong said. “I’ll be better for the Ridge.”
Fong crashed out of HONOS Superbike race one on the ninth of 17 laps while in the battle for second place behind Cameron Beaubier. On Sunday, Fong tried to compete but the pain in his hand/wrist forced him out on lap four while he was in seventh place.
Fong is currently fifth in the 2020 MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike Series point standings.
Another rider who suffered injury at PittRace was Liqui Moly Junior Cup racer Isaiah Burleson, the Burleson Racing-backed rider was involved in a nasty crash on Sunday. Burleson is on the mend from a painful tailbone and pelvis bruise and may miss the Ridge round.
“There isn’t anything broken but the bruising is bad enough that I have to stay in bed,” Burleson said. “It’s hard to walk or do much, and I can’t really bend down. So really we’re just trying to get as much rest as possible so we can come back strong. There a club race coming up the same weekend as the Ridge so we’re probably gonna go to that and just do some testing. But,
yeah, I’m getting better.”
The MotoAmerica Series hits the Pacific Northwest for the first time for round five at the Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington, August 28-30.
