Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has 11 turns, one of which is named for MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey, and 180 feet of elevation gain.

Fans of motorcycle road racing will meet some of the biggest names in the sport when Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca hosts the FIM Superbike World Championship Fan Party at Taverna Aventine in San Francisco on Wednesday, July 15.

The fan party, which is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., will follow a media-only press conference as part of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship GEICO Motorcycle U.S. Round, July 17-19, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This is the ninth round and only North American stop on the 13-event 2015 Superbike World Championship schedule.

The MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship will support the Superbike World Championship at Mazda Raceway. Superbike, Superstock 1000, Supersport, Bazzaz Superstock 600, and KTM RC 390 Cup are scheduled to compete throughout the weekend, round seven of the nine-event MotoAmerica series.

World Superbike riders scheduled to attend the fan party include Ducati SBK Team rider Chaz Davies and Pedercini Kawasaki teammates Christophe Ponnson and David Salom. MotoAmerica will be represented by Yoshimura Suzuki Superbike rider Roger Hayden and Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha Supersport racer Garrett Gerloff.

“The Superbike World Championship is one of the showcase events on the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca schedule,” said Mazda Raceway CEO and General Manager Gill Campbell. “These riders and teams travel the world so hosting a party for them in an amazing international city like San Francisco made all the sense in the world.”

“This is going to be a great weekend,” MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey said. “Fans will have a unique opportunity to see four Superbike races on Sunday. I think that’s pretty cool.” Rainey and his wife, Shae, live in Monterey, a short distance from Mazda Raceway. Turn nine, Rainey Curve, is named for the three-time 500cc world champion.

Some of the activities at the fan party will include riding the Tissot simulator for a chance to win a Tissot T-Race watch and race tickets, as well as the chance to meet the Tissot Grid Girls and the Miss Mazda Raceway Girls. Taverna Aventine will also have food and drink specials throughout the three-hour event. Taverna Aventine is located at 582 Washington Street in San Francisco, across from the Transamerica Pyramid.
