Friday Update: Alex Dumas’ M4 ECSTAR Suzuki team has decided that he will not race in Superbike Cup this weekend at PittRace so that he can continue to concentrate on the Stock 1000 Championship. Look for Dumas on the starting grid in both of this weekend’s Stock 1000 races.

The Superbike Cup is proving to be a popular option for the Stock 1000 riders with 2018 Liqui Moly Junior Cup Champion/2019 Twins Cup Champion Alex Dumas set to make his MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike debut this weekend at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex (PittRace).

At Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, MESA37 Racing Kawasaki rider Stefano Mesa also raced in Superbike and he will do so again at PittRace. And joining Mesa this weekend is M4 ECSTAR Suzuki’s Dumas, who will make his Superbike debut while also racing in both Stock 1000 races.

Dumas is following a familiar pattern in which he starts out as a class rookie and rapidly progresses. Last year, he came on strong as the Twins Cup Championship wound down and ended up winning the class title. Can he do the same thing this year in Stock 1000. If he does, he will have won Championships in Liqui Moly Junior Cup, Twins Cup, and Stock 1000, consecutively. It’s a tall order for the 18-year-old Dumas, but he has a proven success record in every class in which he’s ridden.

Dumas is currently third in the Stock 1000 class, 18 points behind series points leader Corey Alexander. The French Canadian is hot off his best weekend thus far in the Stock 1000 class with third- and second-place finishes at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta last weekend.

In total, there are 25 entries in the HONOS Superbike class for Pitt Race.
