Mark Long has been an avid motorcycle rider since he could throw his leg over a minibike, and he spent over a decade in the radio industry before migrating to the podcast world. As the host of Driven to Ride, Mark shares the stories of motorcyclists from all walks of life: motorsports journalists, motorcycle racers, celebrities, and more. He’s recorded episodes featuring comedian, actor, and motorcyclist Alonzo Bodden; renowned motojournalist and author Peter Egan; 15-time Supercross and outdoor motocross champion Ricky Carmichael; legendary motorsports commentator, announcer, and TV show host Dave Despain; noted powersports industry marketing, media, and PR professional Robert Pandya; and a host of other interesting people with compelling stories to tell about their adventures in motorcycling.
Mark attended last month’s Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas at Circuit of The Americas, and he put together an episode of “Driven to Ride” that features an eclectic group of guests, including FIM Clerk of the Course Beth Miller, Executive Director of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum Brian Case, and 1993 500cc Grand Prix World Champion Kevin Schwantz. Somehow, I was also asked to be part of Mark’s lineup of guests, and I tried to make the most of it on behalf of MotoAmerica.
I had a chance to talk about Mission King Of The Baggers, which for the first time ever was featured as a support race class for MotoGP at COTA. I also talked about what’s special about the road course at COTA; I propped “Off Track With Carruthers And Bice,” the MotoAmerica-specific podcast that I co-host with our Communications Director Paul Carruthers, and finally, I talked about my own love of motorcycles and motorcycling.
