Former MotoAmerica Champion and current World Superbike star Garrett Gerloff certainly has a flair for the dramatic, even if it’s not all part of his master plan.
When his current team Bonovo Action announced that they will split with BMW Motorrad after this season, the immediate question was, “What’s next for GG31?” I will be the first to admit that I hoped he’d return to our paddock like Cameron Beaubier and Sean Dylan Kelly did, and strengthen our Steel Commander Superbike Championship even more.
But Gerloff wasted no time at all in quashing my hopes and dreams (it’s OK, Double-G, I still love you). In the latest edition of his highly entertaining and hugely popular video series, he made it clear that he was staying in the FIM Superbike World Championship. But, with which team?
Well, that has not yet been announced, and it doesn’t sound like it’s Gerloff’s master plan to keep us guessing. In the comments on his latest video on YouTube, he said the announcement would be made on Tuesday. Well, that didn’t happen. So, today, he pinned his latest comment at the top, which says, “Announcement has been delayed y’all, so no update yet unfortunately! Sorry for the suspense haha.”
Meanwhile, exactly one week ago, Super7Moto reported that Gerloff will join Puccetti Kawasaki, and “Vicentino” even wrote, “What is certain is that the Texan Garrett Gerloff joins Manuel Puccetti’s team after three years in Yamaha and two in BMW.”
Then, this past Monday, Crash.net‘s Robert Jones reported that “Three riders are reportedly in contention for the 2025 seat, the first being Garrett Gerloff.”
And, if you follow the axiom that “once is a rumor, twice is a trend, and three times is proof,” then Motorcyclesports.net‘s Antonio Mendes referenced Super7Moto’s story penned by Vicentino in also reporting that Gerloff is linked to Puccetti Racing.
So, what’s the hold-up? GG is going to race for Puccetti Racing most likely aboard a Kawasaki ZX-10RR. His World Superbike adventure will continue, and of course, we wish him well.
In age-old Kawasaki-speak, “Let the good times roll, Garrett.”
