Russell Masecar, who is the band leader of Russell’s Band of Misfits–otherwise known as “RBoM Racing”–sends word that Chris “CJ” Crosslin from Raleigh, North Carolina will make his return to the MotoAmerica paddock this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park where he will compete aboard the #409 RB0M Racing Suzuki SV650. According to Masecar, Crosslin will “attempt to upset the proverbial apple cart” at the final round of the Twins Cup Championship, in reference to the topsy-turvy proceedings that have been a signature part of MotoAmerica’s lightweight, twin-cylinder race class.

After seeing the kind of success that other RBoM Racing riders have had this season–including Curtis Murray, who is currently fourth in the Championship with four podiums this season, and Jackson Blackmon, who finished second two weeks ago at New Jersey in his very first race in the Twins Cup class–Crosslin decided to dust off his leathers and get back in the game. In 2015 and 2016, Crosslin competed in select East Coast MotoAmerica rounds where he raced in the Superstock 600 class and had a best finish of fifth at VIRginia International Raceway in 2015.

Crosslin’s tenure as one of Masecar’s “Misfits” dates back nearly 10 years to when he made the transition from 125GP machinery to a Suzuki SV650. Since then, he has raced a variety of 600cc and 1000cc motorcycles and is looking forward to getting back on a Suzuki SV650 in Alabama.

Calvin Crosslin, who is CJ’s father, made his MotoAmerica debut earlier this season at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. Together, 54-year-old Calvin and 22-year-old CJ hope to make MotoAmerica history at Barber when they become the first father and son to line up on the same grid for a MotoAmerica race.

The final Twins Cup race of the 2019 season will go green at 4 p.m. this Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park.
