Chad Lewin, who finished third in last year’s MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Championship, and notched one win and four podiums in the five events in which he competed, is back for 2019 where he will compete in the full 11-race Stock 1000 Championship aboard a Tuned Racing Yamaha YZF-R1.
Lewin has joined Tuned Racing owner Mike Pond’s squad, and he will also be sponsored by Lewin Estates, which is the racer/realtor’s own highly successful and self-titled southern-California-based realty company.
Tuned Racing had previously announced that Bryce Prince will compete aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6 in MotoAmerica Supersport for the team, and Lewin will be Prince’s teammate and race in Stock 1000 for the 2019 season.
Lewin sprung onto the MotoAmerica scene last year at round four of the Stock 1000 Championship when he raised eyebrows with a win at Utah Motorsports Campus. It was an emotional victory for the California native, who had made a successful comeback to the sport after suffering a serious leg injury earlier in his racing career that almost required amputation.
On his Facebook Page, Lewin said, “Excited to be riding for Tuned Racing for the 2019 MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Championship. Now…time to have fun. If it wasn’t for the following people, I wouldn’t have made it out this season. Special thanks to Gary Dean, Mike Pond, Jim Doty, Bryce Prince, and all our sponsors. See everyone at Road Atlanta.”
