When Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing’s Cameron Beaubier took the checkered flag in MotoAmerica Superbike race two at New Jersey Motorsports Park, he joined an elite group of road racers. The win was his 32nd AMA Superbike victory, which moved him into the top three among all riders in AMA road racing history. He is currently tied with Miguel DuHamel and looking up at his former Yamaha Superbike teammate Josh Hayes in second with 61 race wins and former Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing’s Mat Mladin, who tops the list with 82 victories.

Among those top three Superbike riders, (actually four when you also count DuHamel), Beaubier is the only active rider, which means that he has a chance to move closer and closer to Hayes and Mladin on the list, if not surpass them depending on what the future holds for Beaubier.

This brings up another question: which rider tops the list of all-time AMA road race wins, in any class? The G.O.A.T. in that category is the man whose accomplishments on a Superbike were only surpassed by what he did aboard 600cc middleweight motorcycles. The great Miguel DuHamel amassed 86 wins during his AMA road racing career. Second on that list is Josh Hayes, whose 83 all-time AMA race wins left him just short of eclipsing DuHamel.

This is fun, don’t you think? Let’s do some more. How about “all-time AMA road race wins among riders currently still competing in MotoAmerica”? If you guess Beaubier, then you are correct. Beaubier currently has 53 all-time AMA race wins heading into this weekend’s final round of the 2018 MotoAmerica season at Barber Motorsports Park.

Number two on the list is the man who clinched his second MotoAmerica Supersport Championship at New Jersey. JD Beach has 40 all-time AMA race wins.

“Keep going,” you say? Okay, how about number three? If you guess Josh Herrin, you are right. Herrin has 34 all-time AMA race wins, including the two MotoAmerica Superbike victories that he notched so far this season.

Toni Elias is ranked number four in all-time AMA road race wins with 25 victories, and like his Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing predecessor Mat Mladin, Elias has racked up all his road race wins in just the Superbike class.

Number five on the list of all-time road race wins is just-retired AMA legend Roger Hayden, who collected 21 AMA road race victories. Technically, Hayden is no longer an active road racer, but we’ll let his top-five ranking simmer for a while out of respect for the youngest Hayden brother and his nearly two-decades-long AMA road racing career.

So, that’s the top five in a nutshell. Below is a complete list of the top-ten all-time AMA road race wins among active riders:

  1. Cameron Beaubier: 53
  2. JD Beach: 40
  3. Josh Herrin: 34
