MotoAmerica’s Dunlop tire test is under way at Circuit of The Americas near Austin, Texas. Two full days of lapping are planned, with middleweight and open-class motorcycles across four classes expected to take full advantage of the eight sessions scheduled each day.

Heavy rain overnight and through the early morning hours soaked the 20-turn, 3.4-mile track. By noon, the racing surface was drying, and Superbike/Superstock 1000 and Supersport riders had switched from rain to slick tires. Superstock 600 machines use treaded DOT-approved rubber.

“The place is cool,” Monster Energy Graves Yamaha rider Cameron Beaubier said. “I did 10 laps this morning in the wet and got out for one lap on slicks when the track was still relatively wet. It’s a really long lap, and from what I hear, pretty physically demanding. I’m excited to ride it in the dry on the new R1.”
