Biography

Garrett Gerloff won back to back Supersport titles in 2016 and 2017 and he was rewarded for those championships by a promotion to the Motul Superbike Series on the Monster Energy Yamaha factory team.

The young Texan will thus make his debut in the class in 2018 and many expect him to be a factor from the first time the lights go green. In total, Gerloff won 19 Supersport races in his three years in MotoAmerica.

I had a blast checking out the French GP last weekend, thanks so much to HJC for helping make that happen! Excited to get back to my racing again 😎 ... See MoreSee Less

Definitely not the way I wanted to end my weekend... really sorry to the team and everyone supporting me. I felt great all weekend and really felt connected to my R1. But unfortunately, I didn’t have the rear end grip on lap 1 and ended up on my head. When I first hit the ground, I was hurting pretty bad but no more than any other high side I’ve ever had. Luckily nothing felt broken and my head felt fine thanks to the top of the line gear I wear from @hjc_helmets @cortechracing and @sidimotousa but when I stopped tumbling I was coughing up blood and couldn’t breath well on the side of the track. I then had a CT Scan at the hospital that showed that I had some blood building up around my lungs and that I had a pulmonary contusion. The bleeding sustained itself but I‘m still being monitored for the possibility of a lung collapse if the pressure gets too great. I feel really good today, I’m breathing really well, and honestly feel like I could be on a bike today for race 2 if I didn’t have the lung stuff going on. But with the nature of what was found, I’m still stuck in the hospital. The good news is I will be 100% and ready to go for Road America in a few weeks time! What doesn’t kill me makes me 100 times stronger. I don’t give up 💪🏼💪🏼 ... See MoreSee Less
